My name is Pia,
I am a 48-year-old mother of three from Finland. 🇫🇮
I've been clean and sober for more than five years now.
Before my sobriety, I missed studies and work because I couldn't do them. I had accidents and I was also stabbed. I suffered from anxiety and panic disorder.
The last few years before I got sober I drank every day and smoked weed as soon as I woke up until l passed out
I first went to rehab just for my children and I didn't realize that I had a substance abuse problem.
In rehab, l realized that I'm sick and that there is a better life sober.
My motivation grew because of peer support.
When I became sober, I studied to become a nurse and experience specialist. I have lost 28 kilos and found the joy of exercise and eat healthy.
I go to NA and AA peer support groups every week and my friends are sober.
Without peer support, I wouldn't have survived!!
The most important thing in recovery has been my own hard introspection, in addition to work, peer support!! Without new sober friends, peer support and peer support groups, l wouldn't be sober.
That's the reason why I encourage others to be sober because I know that there is strength in peer support. 🙏
I want now and in the future a balanced and happy family life 😊 have learned to love and take care of myself where it has been hard work and I love my new sober self .❤️
